Hair!

So I used to have looooooong hair.  Looooooong beautiful hair.

I had always wanted to do a "long bob," And then due to a few life changing events,  I decided life is too short and to go for it.  This is the shortest I've EVER had my hair (Even shorter in the back).

PS that's me and my boyfriend, country singer, Phil Vassar.
Heh.  Excuse the goofy "mid-sentence face."

Well- it was fun while it lasted, but I desperately miss my long hair, so I've been growing it out since.

Yesterday I got a haircut.  Not so much to cut length, but more so style.  It might be the BEST haircut I've ever gotten.  No joke.  Aaaaand, it was my first DUDE haircut.  I told him he better not screw up.

And baby!  He didn't.  LOVE it.

Still a long way to go, but it's getting there!

Hey.  Have a GREAT weekend.

The boyfriend and I are doing Christmas in Kansas tonight.  Can't wait to give him his prezzies!

15 December 2010

Yes, Please!

Hiiiii!

Holy crap.  Christmas is next week!  Can't wait to go home and see the fam.

Here's a couple things I asked for:

A pair of Tom's Shoes.  For every pair that's purchased,
they donate a pair to a child in need.  So awesome.

Z Palette.  This thing rocks.  It's magnetic to combine all your
favorite eyeshadow/blushes from any brand.

Urban Ammo eyeshadow from Urban Decay.
Seriously this palette is GORGEOUS.

This book looks so fun.  Def check it out!

OOoh, and I want a GPS.  I get lost WAY too much.

On a completely different note....I got summoned for JURY DUTY!  Suck, right??  No way!  I'm super stoked.

OOOOooooh and one more thing!  I won a contest on the Paperdoll Romance blog.  Saaaweeeet!  You should check it out.  They rock.... and not just because they give me stuff.  Heh.

Music Monday!

How did I not know about Grace Potter and the Nocturnals?

Ohmygosh she rocks. Especially this song:

P.S. I have 11 followers! All I want for Christmas is 12. LOL

Weekend Recap

After reading the guest post of Craftiness is not Optional on Life in Technicolor's blog, I HAD to try these red velvet cake balls.  Friday night I had the itching to do something domestic, so I thought I'd give them a try.  Putting my own spin on them for the Christmas season by dying the white chocolate green, I have lots of room for improvement on the "dipping" step!  However, they were delicious!  Thanks Jess!

Saturday, the boyfriend came to town and we headed up to Kansas City for my biff's Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.  We had a blast.
Mine even had shoulder pads!!

PS I apologize for the quality of the photos in this post.  They were all taken on my Blackberry.

There was a white elephant gift exchange and the boyfriend (Dexter) won an autographed picture of one of the guys at the party.  Bahahaha.

Sunday I slept in until about noon.  Before you judge me, I have to tell you that we decided to drive back from KC last night AFTER the party, putting us back home at 3:30 a.m.  The sleeping in was definitely justified!

I put up my tree today.  Heh.

And finally, before the boyfriend had to go back to Wichita (where he lives), we decided to go see the 3rd Chronicles of Narnia move.  Sooo good.  Definitely recommend it.

Overall weekend gets 5 outta 5 stars.  Back to the grind....

10 December 2010

iBand

Another reason why I need an iPad.

Christmas music from the "iBand" at North Point Community Church.  Seriously, this rocks.  Seriously.

Long Overdue Thanksgiving Pics

So the 'rents came down for Thanksgiving.  They haven't made the trek down here (9 hours) in over a year.  Needless to say, I was beginning to think they didn't love me anymore.  Heh.  Only thing missing was the brother (I know, ladies.  WINK). BTW he's in a band called Rolling Fourth.  If you like hillbilly, punk, rock, ska (lol- hard to define the awesomeness)- check it out here.

Mom decorated the dining room and made quite a feast.  I, proudly, peeled the potatoes for mashing.  Heh.

Here's some pics:

I'm definitely thankful for my awesome fam.

Party Treats

For those that know me, I'm not the most domestic chick there is. So usually when there's a party at work, I'm the one that brings the rolls or napkins.

Recently all of those things were taken before I could sign up and I was feeling a little guilty about never bringing anything of substance. So... with the party celebrating the new national director for Teen Challenge, I thought it was time to get creative.

Naturally, this is what I came up with:

Peanut butter and jelly cut out with a star cookie cutter! LOL

Baby steps, right? :)

2010- The Ramblings of a Tall Girl

So there's this thing on facebook that compiles your status updates from 2010 into a collage.  It's pretty funny.

I had hoped I'd be more interesting.

And apparently I complain a lot.

Oh well.  There's always next year.  *Big Sigh*  LOL! (PS if you click on the picture it gets bigger so you can actually read it).

Music Monday- GLEE!

I've kinda sucked lately on consistently blogging.  I know I promised I would do better at posting, but alas, I've failed you.  LOL  Like you care, right?

Anyhoo- My name is Megan.  It's Monday.  I like Music.  They all start with 'M,' so....it's time to share!

For all you Glee fans out there or just Christmas music lovers in general (I'm a new Gleek), you HAVE to check out their Christmas album.  It totally rocks.

I've been a bit of a scrooge the past couple of years, what are something other EXCELLENT Christmas albums?  Do tell!  The masses are waiting!  ;)

P.S. I just ate some skittles.  I forget how much I love them.  Seriously, it's like a rainbow party in my mouth.

02 December 2010

Hallelujah!

A friend sent me this video today. Appropriate for the Christmas season and definitely put a smile on my face. Enjoy!

Dun Dun Duuuuuuuh!

So.... I got some new boots. May not seem like a big deal to you, the average sized person. But to the 6 foot athletically built calve having female, finding new boots that fit is a BIG deal!

I slept in them last night. Ok, not really, but here's the saga of getting them...

A few months ago I was in search of the perfect cognac tall boot for fall. I found some from J Crew, but at $318, they weren't exactly in my budget. Then, dun dun duuuuuh, I cam across a random website for a clothing company called Jessica London. Then, I found THE boots. Tall boots with extra wide calves and they go up to size 12!!! I'm an 11, but I found this encouraging for my fellow big-footed-females!

Turns out the site is for plus-size women, but I feel like I've found the best kept secret for boots!

These boots almost didn't happen though. They were on back order and I placed the order in Sept and just got them yesterday. You should of heard me talking to the boots as I was unwrapping them- "you BETTER fit me" and "you BETTER be comfortable." (really intimidating I'm sure). One could say I was a little hostile after waiting so long...

After coupons and discounts, I got these for $43! (*tall girl pats herself on the back). Anyhoo, here's a crappy pic I took on my cell phone.

If you have the same problem as me, they are having a free shipping, 40% off sale now! Click here to look fly.

The 5 People You Meet at the Gym

The following are based on my own observations from hitting the gym. Take a guess as to which one I am. heh.

#1 The Beauty Queen - She's in perfect shape and knows it. Her make-up gets fully applied before coming to the gym. No matter where she shops for her work out gear, she can't find spandex small enough for her tight little rump. Hair is long and flowing and never manages to get put in a pony tail because pony tails aren't hot. Elliptical dweller.

#2 The Meat-head - Definitely taking the roids. Muscles are huge and doesn't believe in T-shirts with sleeves. Tanning beds are his best friend and he has no shame blatantly looking you up and down as you walk by. Grunting while lifting is a must.

#3 The Marathon Runner - They hog the treadmills for hours and put all the walkers to shame. Always have the coolest and latest running shoes, shorts and shirts always match and the Nalgene water-bottle proudly sport the "26.2" sticker.

#4 The Quick Fixer - They want to get fit, but don't want to do the work. Short attention spans causes them to try out every machine for about 2 minutes each. Sketcher easy tones shoes are must for cutting corners. The bigger the sole the better. They talk to everyone because focusing on exercise is not a priority. Surely just being at the gym makes them thinner.

#5 The One Track Minder - Probably were in shape at one point in their lives but those days are gone. Goes to the gym because they have to, not because they want to. Social interaction is not a priority which limits facial expressions to anything but inviting. Headphones stay on at all times and as soon as they are done with the task at hand, they are outta there...probably will grab a pizza on the way home!

Which are you?? Did I miss one?

Looks like it's time to utilize that gym membership!

Dexter

For those of you that don't know, my boyfriend's name is Dexter. I can't tell you how many times that when I've told someone his name, I've heard "Like the tv show??!"

Curiosity go the best of me (us), so this weekend, Dexter and I started the first season of Dexter. Verdict is in and the show is ADDICTING! Seriously, I totally dig it.

Be warned, the theme of the show is a little heavy (serial killer) but here's the gist of it as found on Wikipedia:

Orphaned at the age of three, Dexter Morgan is adopted by Miami police officer Harry Morgan and his wife Doris. After discovering that young Dexter has been killing neighborhood pets, Harry believes that the boy is a psychopath and teaches him "The Code" as a way to channel his violent urges towards people who "deserve it". In this code, Dexter's victims must be killers themselves who have murdered the undeserving and will likely do so again. Dexter must also have proof that the criminals are guilty. Most importantly, Dexter must never get caught. Flashbacks throughout the series show Harry, who died several years before, instructing Dexter in how to appear normal and cover his tracks.

Wanted: A Thing

I need a "thing." Everyone has their thing. You know, something you are so passionate about that you can't not talk about it? Whether it's photography or fashion or ministry or underwater basket weaving, it's seems like everyone has one. Everyone but me. What do you do when you've lost your thing?

My thing used to be basketball. It defined me for 10 years of my life. From middle school to high school college and then competing overseas, I was "the jock." Now- I've tried the coaching "thing" (not for me) and there's not really an outlet for me to be a part of it anymore. No leagues for women or my only other option is open gym's once a week with old men who don't know how to play. Plus, I'm definitely NOT in the shape I used to be in.

So now what?

I've seen people get really into their blogs, which is awesome- but with 5 1/2 followers, I'm definitely not there yet. Photography is appealing to me, but I don't even know where to begin. Instruments? Kick boxing? Community service?  I don't know.

Any suggestions? C'mon, help this tall girl find her "thing."

Some More of my Favs!

It's time for round 2 of thatonetallgirl's favorite things! See the first round here.

Enjoy!

#1 Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster. I know, I'm just as surprised as you that a book made the list but it's pretty stinking funny and I'll definitely be reading more of her books!

#2 LipSurgence Natural Matte lip stain by Tarte. I have exposed (a nude color). It's awesome. doesn't go on like the Covergirl marker lip stains aaaaaand, it has a minty taste. De-lightful!

#3 The Laughing Cow swiss cheese. The little wedges of goodness are only 50 calories each and they go with anything! Veggies, crackers, pretzels, etc... Oh, and you can find them at Wal-Mart, Target or any grocery store.

#4 Kandee Johnson. She's the most adorable thing I've come across in a long time. Kandee is a professional make-up artist and does tutorial videos on YouTube. Seriously, she rocks.

#5 The song Strip Me by Natasha Bedingfield. It's a good "go-getter" kind of a song. You can listen to it here.

#6 This bird's next ring from Gomeagan at etsy.com. Seriously, how stinking adorable is it?? Ordered it last week and can't wait to get it! She hand makes the rings and let's you pick the color of the "eggs."

What are some of your favorite things?

In honor of the game this weekend...

30 September 2010

I think we all can agree here...

Got this in an email forward from a friend. Too spot-on not to share! :)

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes too.

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this -ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Darn it!); but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run
away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

21. Sometimes I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it.

22. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

23. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text.

24. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

25. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

26. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

28. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year?

29. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

30. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

Just wanted to share...

Can't remember where I found this picture, but I find it to be a nice reminder...

Monday Night Football!

In honor of the rivalry of Monday Night Football's game this evening, a joke:

(Photo found on www.greenbaybacknation.com)

There is this Vikings fan who is married to a Packer fan.

He loves her very much but still cant get past the fact that she is a Packer fan. He thinks long and hard and finally comes to a decision. As much as he loves the Vikings...he loves her more. He decides to become a Packer fan (smart man).

After weeks of trying unsuccessfully to root for the Packers, he decides to get some help from a doctor. "Doctor, I'm trying to become a Packer fan, is there any way to help me?" the man asks.

"Well, yes, it is quite simple. I just have to remove 1/3 of your brain, but it is a very dangerous procedure."

"Are you sure you want to do this?" asks the doctor.

"I have no other choice." the man says.

The man wants to have this surgery right away. The doctor begins the procedure. During the surgery the doctors hand slips and he removes too much of the poor Viking fan's brain.

While the Vikings fan is recuperating the doctor is pacing around his bedside. The man begins to stir.

The doctor rushes over and says "Sir, I am so sorry, during the surgery I mistakenly removed 2/3 of your brain instead of 1/3.

The man looks up from his bed with a huge smile on his face and says "GO BEARS !!"

Click here to hear how I really feel.

heh.

May the best team win!
